MENTOPLASTY (JAW SURGERY)

The balance and symmetry of the bone structure that forms our facial skeleton complement the aesthetics of face. In jaw aesthetics, chin being inwards or extending outwards, or asymmetrical levels on it can be cured by local surgical interventions.

How is a chin surgery made?

Mentoplasty is made with general anaesthesia. Depending on the patient it is possible to relocate jaw bones backwards or upwards, by cutting. In order to relocate the chin to where it is supposed to be some medical apparatus which are called implant or plate-screw can be utilised. In case the chin is too extended or asymmetrical, an operation called chin-filing is applied. The results of chin surgeries are highly successful and long lasting.

It is common to see swelling and purpleness post-surgery. In order to keep pain at minimum levels painkiller support is given to the patient. The patient should rest for almost a week and should keep the surgery area away from any impact. Liquid food should be used for a few days. Then, slowly they can go back to their social lives.

Caution: Share with you doctor all your currently prescribed medicine and, if having, your habits such as smoking or alcohol usage, because it should not be forgotten that some medicine may increase the risk of bleeding, prolonging bad habits may cause infection and effect the curing process at a significant level.
